Musician to Musician

A solidarity fund for musicians affected by the earthquakes in Türkiye

Support our Musicians and Help us to Cultivate Hope

This is a special fund dedicated to the extraordinary needs of musicians experiencing devastating losses from the recent earthquakes. In the wake of this tragedy, there are musicians with no home, instruments, money or possibly no family left. With an essential aim to keep chamber music alive in areas that often do not have access, it is urgent that we reach these precious talents and support them as they rebuild their lives.

With 11 years of experience bringing Turkish and international musicians together for collaboration, learning and performances, CME in partnership with Türkiye-based NGO Klasik Keyifler, is now expanding their missions to raise funds directly targeted toward professional musicians and/or young music majors in conservatories, universities and music high schools that have been affected by the earthquakes.

The funds raised by this campaign will be allocated toward costs for lessons, instrument replacement and repairs, and will help support local musical institutions such as the Adiyaman Philharmonic Association, Hatay Symphony Orchestra and small music schools in the region. Funds will also help to fund a mentorship program and performance collaborations with local musicians through its network of volunteer musicians.

Bartok travelled in this very same region of the earthquake-zone in 1936 along with Saygun, one of the most illustrious composers from the early years of the Turkish Republic. As composers and theorists, they were also fascinated by folk traditions and the long history carried through common melodies. Indeed there is a rich tapestry of musical cultures in the history of this region including western classical traditions. We hope that this campaign will help to protect and rebuild this significant and valuable musical ‘infrastructure’.

Notification regarding funds received and allocated for this campaign will be listed below on this page.
